July 26, 2022 - On June 18, 2022, the first local omicron cases were detected, the effect was preventive measures by ordering businesses to shut down and the population to stay at home plus daily covid-test. The impact on businesses is apparent, with zero tourist and economic spending. This might be the most challenging time for the Macau tourism industry after almost three years of pandemic disruptions. As Macau slowly emerges from this most recent period it is essential to learn from others jurisdictions and what they experienced as tourists returned.
