2023 Charity Gala Dinner
On September 15, the France Macau Chamber of Commerce (FMCC) 2023 Charity Gala Dinner, themed “Paris Extravaganza”, was held successfully at MGM Macau. The star-studded charity gala dinner was attended by approximately 300 members and guests. This year FMCC launched "The Macau ESG Awards". These awards recognize the exceptional contributions in the areas of Environment, Social, and Governance within Macau. They underline FMCC’s commitment to nurturing sustainability. The elected winners from three categories (Best Project, Best SME, Best NGO) were announced during the Gala Dinner.
In light of FMCC’s endeavors to promote ESG projects to the community, the event raised a significant charitable contribution of MOP62,250 in support of the Society of Food & Environmental Health (Macao) in their flagship project, “Leave No Food Behind”. This initiative centers on upcycling food trimmings and off-shelf vegetables into healthy pet food by applying various food technologies and food safety experiences. This "circular economy" approach in reducing food waste while also demonstrating compassion for life, symbolizing mutual commitment to promote sustainable practices and striving for a brighter future for our community.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary, FMCC Chairman Mr. Rutger Verschuren, and the Executive Board members welcomed Ms. Ma Naifang, Counsellor of Policy Research department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR, Mrs. Christile Drulhe, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, Ms. Susanna Wong Soi Man, Director of Marine and Water Bureau, among many other community and industry leaders from Macau and the Greater Bay Area.
Mr. Verschuren reflected in his opening speech on the enormous global changes and ongoing evolution of Macau, as coming year will be 25 years after Macau’s transfer of sovereignty in 1999, and highlighted that also in 2024, FMCC will celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and France, coinciding with the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, wherein FMCC will seize the opportunity to step up people-to-people and cultural exchanges, enhancing mutual understanding and friendship, to deepen the cooperation between China and France through its role as a bridge for cultural and commercial exchanges between the two nations.
Thank you to our invaluable guests of this evening: invitees, sponsors, partners, members and friends for making our Charity Gala Dinner a success!
